About the Artist
Donna began her journey with clay in 1982 in the beautiful seaside hamlet of Gerroa and went on to open her own teaching studio in Sydney. Now a retired school teacher she has established a boutique pottery studio in North Nowra which overlooks the bushland and escarpment of Cambewarra Mountain.
Donna creates both functional and decorative pieces. She takes her inspiration from, where the Mountains Meet the Sea on the beautiful South Coast of NSW, Australia. From the rugged escarpment to the lush green rolling hills and pastures dotted with cows to the cliff faces or sandy beaches where the crystal waters of the Pacific Ocean break upon the shores. All these things nurture her creative side.
Her Philosophy is, while having a definite purpose for each piece of clay it is also important to give oneself up to the clay to create something special. Donna uses her Heart, Head and Hands to create all of her unique pieces which demonstrate her Passion for Pottery. When you hold one of Donna’s pieces in your hands you know if it’s meant for you. It Just Fits!
